Queer Identities in Nonfiction

This category is to feature queer identities that are found in nonfiction books. These could be historical documentation of queer events, autobiographies of queer people, biographies of queer people, poetry written about or by queer people, and more!

When I add new books to this page, I will add them to the top of the list to make it easier for you to spot them. Also, please let me know if you have any recommendations that are not on this list! I am always looking to grow my collection.

The Last Deployment by Bronson Lemer (My Review)

I recently finished this book for my PRIDE bookclub at work. It is an autobiography about going to war in Iraq while being gay at the height of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” I enjoyed reading this book especially the imagery and the commentary. The juxtaposition between Lemer’s childhood in North Dakota to the Iraqi desert is great.
