RELAPSE Now Available
It is here!! RELAPSE is officially out in the world and I am so happy. I will be updating links on my website soon for you to be able to purchase but for now, check it out on Amazon and add it to your shelf on Goodreads. I am so happy to be able to share this and many other stories with you. The story of Brian and Azure is one that has been eight years in the making—not my oldest characters, but certainly some of my most loved. I hope you enjoy reading the roller coaster that is their journey as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
I would absolutely love to hear from you! You can contact me directly through this website or through my Goodreads account. I am patiently awaiting my first good—and bad—review to pop up.
I do want to say that this is a journey. As such, there is a lot that I am still working on, such as the presentation of this website and the other online presences I would like to keep for you. So, below, you will find some updates on various things.
Vocal
I am up to chapter 4 of WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT on Vocal.media. You can read the story here and stay tuned for more updates. I am trying to post at least two chapters a week until it is finished. This story is a short thirteen chapters long.
Goodreads
I recently completed my reading challenge of reading thirty books by the end of the year. Most recently, I finished reading THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE KISSMAS by Sara Raasch. It was an amazing read and I highly recommend it. You can see my short review of the book here. Next, I am going to work on finishing THE SAND DRAGON by Michael F. Stewart before resuming my reread of Christopher Paolini’s THE INHERITANCE CYCLE.
Character Art
If you’re interested in seeing some art of my characters from both RELAPSE and WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, keep an eye on my Toyhou.se account. This is a secondary account that I have acquired to showcase the characters belonging to my published works. My original account currently houses all of my characters from every work in progress I’ve ever had. I created the secondary account to keep it clean for you and to, hopefully, avoid spoilers for things that aren’t quite ready to share yet. I am also very interested in seeing any art that you might want to create of my characters! If you have a Toyhou.se account, you can add the image directly to the character’s gallery. If not, you can share directly with me however you’re comfortable sharing and I will make sure to add it with the appropriate credits. I am sitting here waiting for my first piece of fanart too.
Next Project
If you’re like me and wondering what’s next, well, I can tell you I’d like to ask that very same question. I have three very strong ideas of what could be next but all three of these things require hard work that is a different variety depending on which one I’m talking about. As I mentioned in my other post, I am not going to define myself as a writer of a specific genre except to say that I am an LGBTQIA+ author who writes our community into different genres. That said, I am going to talk about these three projects using their loose estimation of genre as keywords to explain my conundrum.
First, I have a Dark Fantasy that has a completed draft and has been beta read. However, the beta’s comments linger on the document and the writing is a number of years old so it needs thorough revision before being polished enough to seek publication. This is one that I am currently considering because it has similar themes as RELAPSE and might help readers start to settle in and get comfortable with me before I drastically switch genres.
Second, I have a Contemporary Romance that also has a completed draft and has been beta read. This one has had said feedback incorporated into the manuscript. However, I then decided to change the writing from third person to first person and so started rewriting it—which I stopped about a third of the way through. So, this one must have the rewriting finished before it can be considered for publication. I bring this one into consideration because it falls into the same vein of story as THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE KISSMAS that I just read and Rainbow Rowell’s SIMON SNOW series. I feel like it would be well enjoyed.
Third, I have a Sci-Fi Fantasy (perhaps a Science Fantasy?) that is the roughest out of all three in that it is only about one third to halfway written. I feel that this story is a great contender though because the characters and the voice stand well on their own. It is the most recent project I have undertaken to write and therefore I feel the writing itself is probably the most polished of anything older that I have drafted.
I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on what you would like to see next. I tend to have analysis paralysis while also battling the squirrel syndrome where everything new and shiny grabs my attention. I used to joke that I have commitment issues with my writing because I never, ever used to finish writing anything. Now I have a fair amount of manuscripts drafted and many more in the hopper but I do feel that I have digressed back to some of those old, flighty tendencies. So, anything that will help me to focus I will take.
